Please mark your calendar for a performance of Philippe Sands’ East West Street at La Maison Français in Washington, DC the evening of Thursday, December 15.

The performance of East West Street is based on Sands’ best-selling book of the same name, and presents images, words and music to explore conflicts and connections between the men at the heart of the Nurenberg war crimes trial: Cambridge academic Hersch Lauterpacht, Polish prosecutor Raphael Lemkin and Hitler’s notorious lawyer, Hands Frank. It also interweaves the story of Sands’ grandfather and the origins of international human rights law.
